No Reason to Hurry
Finding Estrella is a slow project, and the camera helps keep it that way.
The Chamonix with a 6×12 film back has become my primary way of photographing these changing edges of the West Valley. Twelve exposures, a tripod, a dark cloth, and no reason to hurry.
Here, new homes are moving across what was recently open ground. Estrella Mountain remains beyond the construction, sometimes visible, sometimes obscured, but always the common reference point.
Working this way gives me time to look at how these layers come together before making the photograph.
