Support Group

What a nice way to end the week. I almost didn’t go out shooting today because of the miserable weather forecast, but came home with what has become one of my favorite images from Finding Estrella.

The funny thing is, this wasn’t the photograph I was thinking about on the drive home. I was much more excited about other compositions I’d found while driving around the area. It wasn’t until I saw this one on the computer that I began to appreciate how the pieces came together.

The angled pole supports echo the slopes of the mountain, while the furniture beside the road suggests a gathering that has just ended. Maybe a little group therapy beneath the power lines.

This is the kind of quiet discovery I’ve been striving for in the project. The title adds a little humor, but also leaves me imagining a support group for those of us watching these mountain views slowly disappear.
